When we see how fast the world of technology is changing, sometimes we feel like we can’t keep up, don’t we? But at the same time, we are amazed by these innovations. 2024 was just like that. So much happened in areas such as artificial intelligence, metaverse, blockchain, Flutter, that we could only stare in amazement at some of it. Come on, let’s talk about it. What happened and what’s in store for us in 2025?
Artificial Intelligence has literally taken over the scene, that’s what I can say. Think about it, a model chatting with you is no longer just typing; it’s painting, creating videos, even writing code for you! I’m quite amazed by this, especially this generative AI thing. Even small businesses are creating marketing content in seconds. In the past, days used to be spent on these things. Now let people deal with manual things! But of course, when it developed so fast, the discussions on “How can we make this technology more ethical?” emerged directly. Some say that if we don’t regulate AI, things could get out of hand in the future. Are they right? Maybe. But at the same time, I can’t help thinking how this speed will move us forward.
Metaverse. Let’s talk a little bit about this. You know, the idea that “everyone will wear VR glasses and live in a virtual world” seems to have become a little more realistic. Big companies come together on these platforms instead of huge meeting rooms. Thus, people save both time and space. Imagine, you use metaverse to attend a course. We would walk around saying, “Normally, it would cost a ton of money.” It would be nice, and I don’t think it’s too far in the future. And of course, the hardware side is improving. But those Meta’s and Apple’s devices, maybe we will buy one when their prices drop :)
Metaverse is not only limited to education! The entertainment sector is also very much involved. Youtube gives us an idea about this too. Here is just one of them:
Blockchain. Okay, I admit, at first, like most people, I thought it only revolved around cryptocurrencies, but I was wrong. It’s even used for authentication now! I was browsing the internet and saw a news about an NFT exhibition. I was puzzled, “What is this doing here?” but when I read the details, I was amazed. When you look at a painting, you realize that it is not only a work of art, but also a marvel of technology. Although it may seem a bit complicated, blockchain seems to be the infrastructure of the future. Who knows, maybe soon we will even store our deeds on blockchain.
Flutter is another story, actually it is a bit my story. When I was developing Windows desktop with C#, I used to think about where I would use them, who would benefit from them. Then I met Flutter and found myself in the mobile application world. I’m glad I did. Personally, I am not surprised that it is so popular among developers. You will write a mobile application, it will work on both iOS and Android. What more could you want? There is something called Flutter Flame; it is perfect for game development. Flutter Flame seems so easy to implement for simple games that I thought, “Should I write a game right away?”. In fact, Flutter’s rapid growth has made us see it not only in mobile apps, but also in desktop and web projects. It’s a lifesaver for developers!
So, what will happen in 2025? I can say that hyperautomation is coming with a bang. Plus, it seems that machines will do more work in factories instead of people. But we should not forget that this also brings the question “Will unemployment increase?”. On the one hand, while things are getting easier, on the other hand, some professions may disappear completely. For example, cashiering… Many stores now have self-checkout systems. But with this technology, new jobs may also emerge. Should we start researching now to learn about the professions of the future?
Then there is green technology. They say electric cars will become more affordable. I really wonder, can we be that ambitious in reducing our carbon footprint? At the same time, the use of renewable resources such as solar and wind energy is expected to increase dramatically. We say “a more sustainable world” but can we really achieve this goal? Especially the younger generation is very conscious about this issue. Protests, campaigns… They will shape the future, that’s for sure.
And Flutter, look, this is definitely going to continue. We’re going to see bigger games and more creative applications. It might even be possible to see Flutter integrated with AI one day. Imagine an app where you just tell it what you want and it designs and codes it for you. Isn’t that exciting to imagine?
You know, living in such a rapidly evolving world both excites and scares me a bit. But one thing is for sure, it’s going to be a lot of fun for all of us to be a part of these trends that are shaping the future.
